Alfonso (1377-1443)
He was born as the illegitimate child of Portuguese King John I.
Alfonso I, Duke Of Braganza (1443-1461)
When Infante Peter, Duke of Coimbra, retained regency of King Alfonso V who was an infant, he bequeathed his uncle Alfonso I the land of Braganza. This action established the House of Braganza. This was done as a form of reconciliation.
