Religion is a major reason why a name change happens.

Ellen Adler (1939-circa 70s?)

She was raised in an Atheist-Marxist household. However, it did not provide her with any deep meanings that she would explore later in life.

Shekhinah Mountainwater (circa 70s?-2007)

shekhinah (שְׁכִינָה‎): (Hebrew) after a Jewish word for “presence of God”
mountainwater: (English) mountain water

She would become well-known as an artist and musician focusing on Paganism through the womanly perspective. It started in the ’60s and ’70s after exploring Hinduism, Occultism, and Christianity.
