Angela Anaïs Juana Antolina Rosa Edelmira Nin y Culmell (1903-1977)

This is her full name. She was born in France to a Catalan father and a Danish mother, both of whom were musicians. So, as you can imagine, there are a lot of Spanish influences throughout her name. This includes the double-barreled surname which takes both of her parents\’ surnames.

Nin would become a naturalized citizen of the United States, where she would develop her career as a French surrealist writer. She would publish seventeen volumes of her Diary, short stories, novels, and non-fiction works.

This is the shortened version of her name, which was one that she would be best known by.
