Angela Anaïs Juana Antolina Rosa Edelmira Nin y Culmell (1903-1977)

This is her full name. She was born in France to a Catalan father and a Danish mother, both of whom were musicians. So, as you can imagine, there are a lot of Spanish influences throughout her name. This includes the double-barreled surname which takes both of her parents’ surnames.

Nin would become a naturalized citizen of the United States, where she would develop her career as a French surrealist writer. She would publish seventeen volumes of her Diary, short stories, novels, and non-fiction works.

Anaïs Nin

This is the shortened version of her name, which was one that she would be best known by.

Her works have been published by Sky Blue Press.
