If you are or were a fan of the New York Jets, you probably came across the name D\’Brickashaw. He was the quarterback of the team for a decade and has played in 160 games until 2016.
I\’m not a fan of sports, so I first came across Ferguson on that famous Key & Peele skit with the football roster with the over-the-top names. The name D\’Brickashaw comes from a character by the name of Father Richard de Bricassart from the 1977 novel The Thorn Birds. Of course, Brick was his diminutive pet-name, as noted by his father.
Names tend to have intentionality behind them. Considering how he came from a Philadelphia suburb, it would make sense that it came from a more educated upbringing.
